Countryside’s View on IB

An explosion seemed to be felt throughout the county with slight mention of Palm Harbor University High School losing their International Baccalaureate program to Countryside High School. Palm Harbor immediately protested the thought: concerned parents filled the school board meetings to argue the new proposal, Palm Harbor football players attended Countryside’s homecoming game trying to rally against transferring to a new location and IB students wore navy blue shirts with the slogan ‘Leave PHUHS alone. Replicate it. Don’t decimate it.’ Half of Countryside is ecstatic to see the possibility of IB coming to the school, but the others fear that the new proposal will leave the traditional students in the dust.

At the Total Team Challenge at St. Petersburg’s North Shore Pool, the Palm Harbor University swim team pulled off a total team victory Saturday.
The Hurricanes swept the boys, girls and overall team competitions, then completed the sweep by taking the coveted spirit award.
Event organizer and Northeast coach Bill Burrows said it was the first time in the meet’s 21-year history that one team won the swimming and the spirit competitions. More >

The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and Alvin and the Chipmunks are just a few of the many children’s cartoons that you may have watched as a younger kid that have been turned to live action. It seems more and more that Hollywood is loosing ideas and glancing back into our past to help pay for their future. I went to see Alvin and The Chipmunks:The Squeakquel over our holiday break and saw a trailer for Marmaduke starring Owen Wilson. I remember reading the little single square Marmaduke comics in the newspaper that I believe still appear today. It got me thinking, now they’re going into one panel comic characters? What else is in the works? More >
